My Village

I think we all have a place in our mind which is most beautiful to us. I spent my childhood in a village in Bangladesh called Bamni and for me that is the most beautiful place ever. It is a small forest area where you can experience scenes of nature, fresh air, hospitable people, and a quiet life. Bamni is connected to my soul. When I think of my village, my senses come alive. When I close my eyes, I can see it’s people and the place where I used to play. I can still hear the sound of kids in the playground, call to prayers. Majority of the people there are Muslim. I still remember the taste of rice pudding that my grandmother used to make during Eid. During Eid the whole village cooks and the scent of spices is everywhere. Life is very simple and peaceful in my village, and I miss it very much.

There are many villages in Bangladesh, where thousands acres of land are only for agricultural purposes. Bamni is one of those kinds of villages, where people like greenery and nature. It’s a very great pleasure to live in the village within this green environment. The crop farm of rice in my village is wonderful. It make me feel that I am looking a sea because I can not see anything else for a far distance beside the farm. People can never imagine the beauty of a rice farm, unless they go there and see that with their own eyes. I feel peaceful and relaxed when I see the beauty of nature in my the village. The environment is very clean and fresh. It’s not polluted like city. If anyone go to my village just once, they will never forget the natural beauty of the rice farm and the clean air.

My village is very small but friendly. Only four to five hundred people live there. In the city most people don’t know their neighbors, but in my village mostly all people know each other. They are always there to help each other. Most of the people in my village are very helpful, kind, and friendly. They are also very hospitable. I still remember, that one day I went to someone’s house in my village and they didn’t even know me but still they treated me as their guest. They offered me food, and the way they talked to me was like I was their friend.

In my village, we used to live in a small wooden house by a little pond. I had a little balcony in my house. I could see the pond from my balcony. I can still smell the pond water. The pond water was so clean that I could see myself and the nature in the pond water. It looked like a painting in the water. Also whenever, I was in the balcony, I used to take a deep breath full of clean air and smell the colourful flowers in our front garden. .This made me feel more energetic and happy. I felt secure, peaceful and happy.

In the village, the beauty of morning is amazing. When I was in village, I always used to wake up really early in the morning to feel the morning weather. The sky was clean and blue. Everything looked beautiful and golden as sun were rising. I still remember those moments. The scene of early morning in the village was so calm and quiet. Fresh air was blowing everywhere and birds were singing. On all sides there were farming fields which were totally filled with fresh green plants. Most people had a little garden besides their house. Those mornings in my life were so beautiful. I didn’t use any alarm to get up in the morning when I was there because I could get up by hearing the beautiful sounds of the birds.

My favorite time in the village was nights, when everything was so calm and quiet. I could hear the sounds of frogs and see the wonderful visual combination of firefly’s .When there was a moon, I enjoyed looking at the stars. I used to spend enjoyable time after the dinner taking with my lovely family. We used to sit in our balcony and tell funny stories and view the night beauty of the village. Also, during the winter nights, many people gathered together and made fires. After that, as night got darker everyone went home. If I got up at midnight in the village I could see through my window that whole village was sleeping and I could not see any light without the moon.

Even though, in my village life is simple and peaceful but still it has many other problem. There are still many people in my village who are very poor and can’t provide enough support towards their family. There is lack of good schools and education. Most of the village people still believe in child marriage. There are also many other problem for example: lack of electricity supply, lack of medicine, lack of transport. Nowadays, most of the people are moving to different cities and countries because of these problems.

My village is the most beautiful and precious place to me in the whole world, with it’s rice field and soft air. In my village people enjoy the music of the birds, feel the rattle of the breeze, and enjoy fresh air around them. It’s a simple and peaceful place. Now, I live in a big city with many opportunities, but I still miss my village.
